Monday morning I woke with about 15 minute contractions. Kelly arrived with Hyrum early and helped to care for the kids and I. Throughout the day, my contractions grew closer. I made Job really nervous when I texted him at about 2:30 and told him they were 6-7 minutes apart. That evening we took the kids over to Job's parent's house for dinner and swimming. I had contractions about every 10 minutes. Apparently Crosby was not quite ready to come yet. We came home and notified our sitter (my visiting teacher) that we would be needing her sometime that night. Just after midnight, with about 7 minute contractions, I was ready to have him out. We called our sitter and got to the hospital at about 12:45. When I was checked, I was at a 4 and pretty much all the way thinned. I guess Crosby was not ready because my contractions pretty much stopped. They told us they would have me walk for an hour, drink water and if I have not progressed, they would send me home because we lived so close so I could be more comfortable. After an hour and only two contractions and no progression, we left the hospital. We arrived home at about 2:30. Our sitter left and told us to let her know when to come back.
I guess I fell asleep for a little bit. I woke up at about 3:30 with about 6 minute contractions that were very strong. After about 20 minutes of them I woke up Job. He called labor and delivery and asked how long I should have them, since they said an hour, he told me I had to do a few more. When I asked how many more he wanted me to do, he said four. I knew I could handle four more. Within that "four contraction" period, they moved from every 6 minute to every 4 minutes. He then texted our sitter, which it was about 4:15 now. W
It would take her about 15 minutes to get here. During this time period, my contractions quickly moved to every two minutes and they became very strong. I quickly became nervous that this baby would not make it to the hospital. Job helped me to the car just before 4:30 and I told him to call her to make sure she was really coming because I had to leave right now. She arrived at 4:30 and we were off. We called my parents and told them. When we got to the hospital only a few minutes later I told Job to run me up to the third floor. We walked in and the same ladies that were there earlier became the same ones that helped me again. The nurse asked me if I could change into the robe. I said no, took off my pants, climbed into the bed and told her the baby was coming and that they should take him out.
At about 4:40 I was checked and was a 9 and all the way effaced, my water still had not broken. Within 10 min (I think) my water broke and I was ready to push. Job said I started pushing at about 4:55 and at 5:04 our very "lavender" baby boy arrived holding onto his umbilical cord. He was not breathing right and so was taken to the baby table and had all the fluid from his lungs suctioned out. They gave him a little oxygen and soon he brightened up a bit and started shared with the world his raspy cry.
We are so blessed to finally have him here and his big brother and sister simply adore him.
